My So-Called Job

Hi friends,

So after enticing you with the idea of me leaving for Taiwan to teach English for a year with Mr. Cody Hart I regret to inform you that, well, I'm still in Cincinnati. Apparently, the current teachers in the program aren't so hip to leave their highly respected and decently paid job to return to the ominous unemployment rate that is the United States right now. I can vouch, living with mom and applying for any, ANY job (especially jobs I held as a 16 year old) and getting denied is not so fun.

So, long story short, I haven't left yet. We are now slated to leave anytime between now and February. Now that I received my security deposit back from my apartment in Chicago (thank you, very expensive housing market), I might just live in Wyoming (the state) for a couple months and work on a rig with my best friend artist/glassblower/jewelry maker turned oil rig mountain mama. Yes, that's right, I'm not qualified enough to serve tables or sell overpriced clothing, but I can dig up rocks.

Oh, the irony.

  1. Oh hey Carolyn, sorry to know about your predicament.. but I must say that the idea of a rough and tumble time at a rig in Wyoming has a certain rough charm about it.. For one thing, it will surely give you plenty of stories to tell at dinner tables for years to come (well, so will Taiwan, for that matter).. IRIM misses you and would love to have you back I am sure :)
